School education can never be wholesome without celebrations. Our fondest memories are those of school events & celebration of festivals with our schoolmates. But apart from being a source of enjoyment & a break from the decorum of regular school routine, these events are also connecting education to life! While celebrating various festivals, we are infact celebrating the concept of unity in diversity that defines India and we are also learning about the different cultures & traditions followed across the globe. These celebrations also provide a platform for the students to showcase their talent through various activities & helps instill self-confidence in the students which will prepare them to face life’s challenges bravely
Whenever we think or hear about the word festival, automatically a smile comes on our face. We start thinking of clothes we would wear, and the food we would eat, gifts we would exchange. But celebrating special days or any festivals in a school means much more than that. There are many special days and festivals celebrated at home but celebrating a festival in a school with friends and teachers is a very special thing for any child.
During the course of the year, we will be celebrating Independence Day, Republic day, Janmashtami, Children’s day, Teachers Day, Grandparent’s day, Raksha Bandhan, Christmas, Holi, Diwali, Guru Purnima, Eid etc. In India we have millions of reasons to rejoice with these festivals, when students from different regions and backgrounds experience this joy of festivals which they celebrate together, it truly enhances and glorifies the Indian culture. So apart from classroom learning, the teacher encourages students to celebrate and enjoy each and every festival and event with great fun, zeal, and enthusiasm.

The school aims at imparting knowledge in cultural activities like music – vocal & instrumental as well as dance & drama, debates & speeches, art & craft activities. The School Annual Day will provide a platform for the students to showcase their talents & skills as they participate in singing dancing or a one-act play or a poem recitation or simply tap their feet to the peppy songs and cheerful rhymes. Each and every performance by kids turns out to be innovative and unique in its own way. It boosts their self-esteem and gives them confidence. Some of the students may be very good in these activities, so it is a great opportunity for those students to show their best performance and claim their share of the limelight. At the end of the day, the limitless joy of celebrating the event is visible on their faces.
Annual days also provide a creative platform for enhancing what the students have learnt in their class, for example, a play on the life of Shivaji will help students learn more about enhance all that the students have learnt in their history lesson, similarly the trials of Indian freedom struggle can come alive on the stage & reinforce the lessons taught on that subject. Enacting a Shakespearian play can go a long way towards enriching the vocabulary of students while a lot of value education can be imparted through these plays & skits.
The school believes that Sports & fitness activities play a very important role in overall development of the student not only in their school life but form a healthy base for their adult life too. It is truly said that one’s true character is revealed on a sports ground. Physical fitness & agility not only helps the students excel in their sporting pursuits but also in their academic pursuits. Sports day is the culmination of all sports activities learnt by the students during the year. This is a chance for students who have a passion for outdoor sports and team games to shine. Many schools also divide students into different houses to add a competitive team element, giving them the chance to score points for their house as well as gaining individual kudos. Inter house matches help encourage healthy competition amongst students & the finals of the inter houses events are held on the sports day. Students cheer for their houses & wait with bated breath as the score board keeps changing scores tipping the scale in favour of different houses. Mass Drills also play an important role as these drills & formations need discipline, co-ordination & collaboration amongst all the participants.
Grandparents’ Day is a day dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating the important contribution made by grandparents to the wellbeing and education of students within their family. It is said that for a grandparent, their grandchildren are their last best friends & for the grandchildren, their grandparents are their first best friends & this is visible when we celebrate this special day! It is an opportunity for family to show their gratitude and respect for the older generation and to honour grandparents. This is especially important in the present day scenario where joint families are slowly disintegrating and making way for nuclear families & grandparents are being looked upon as a part of the extended family and not immediate family. Respect for elders is the essence of Indian Culture & students need to be reminded about the important role that their grandparents have played in their lives & that of their parents. The students look forward to Grandparents’ Day because this day meant lots of fun to them. Storytelling, games, activities, and singing were some of the things they do on that day.
The contribution of a teacher cannot be ignored especially in India where we have been brought up with the values of
गुरुर्ब्रह्मा ग्रुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः।
गुरुः साक्षात् परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः।।.
In India, the Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5th September and this tradition started from 1962. This is when Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the 2nd President of Independent India was born. He was a philosopher, scholar, teacher, and politician and his dedicated work towards education made his birthday an important day in the history of India. We remember the great work of this exemplary person on this day. Teaching is the most influential job in the world as it performs the challenging task of passing civilisation from one generation to the next & there can be no greater task than that. Teacher shapes the mind of her students and without knowledge no one can exist in this world. Teacher imparts good value in students and turn them into responsible citizens. Teachers’ Day celebration is a way to remind students of the importance that their teacher plays in their lives & to teach them to respect their teachers.
Celebrating Independence Day promotes nationalism and patriotism towards the nation. 15th August 1947, the date no Indian can forget, the day of freedom, the day that bought hope, the day that made India independent seventy-four (74) years ago is celebrated with the same hope, enthusiasm, happiness, and patriotism every year. It is one of the great days for everyone remembers the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters to get us our Independence. It is also a day where we are made aware of the fact that we need to be worthy citizen of our nation to truly deserve this freedom that they have received by us for free but others have paid a great price in winning this freedom for us. To celebrate this day there are various activities commencing with the flag hoisting ceremonies, theme based exhibitions, and other activities like patriotic song competition, tribute to freedom fighters, cultural activities promoting unity through diversity etc.
Republic Day commemorates the spirit of independent and individual India. It was on this day in 1930 when the Indian National Congress proclaimed Purna Swaraj, the declaration of India’s independence from colonial rule. The day also commemorates Indian citizens’ power to choose their government democratically. The nation celebrates this day as the national holiday for the establishment of the Indian Constitution. Speeches, extempore, quizzes and essay writing competitions are organized for students to participate.
These are but a few days that are celebrated in school, there many days and ways through which learning is woven with celebration in a school year. The school calendar is simply full of events that arouse in our students an eagerness to come to school.
Safety & Security, of the students as well as staff, is one of the most important aspects of School Management. Our students are too small to stand up for themselves or fight for themselves or defend themselves in situations where their personal safety is at stake. This makes it important for the adults responsible for these students to be trained & empowered to take care of their safety & security.
Children are exposed to various risks like the risk of being lured by any person, being abused - verbally, physically, or sexually, being bullied or threatened by older children. Breach of cyber safety, risk of accidents & risk of natural calamities are other factors that come under the gamut of Safety Precautions
To minimize these risks we have tried to put the best safety measures in place:
Over and above all this, the school has set up a Safety Lab at school where students will be taught about personal safety in an age appropriate manner.
